Breast Health Day 2011

Europa Donna has established Breast Health Day as an annual event on 15th October to remind girls and women about the importance of lifestyle factors that can influence their future breast health and help prevent breast cancer.
 
This year's campaign is Make Healthy Choices and will continue to remind women that engaging in physical exercise, maintaining a normal body weight, and eating a healthy diet can help protect their breast health.

Europa Donna Ireland is inviting women and groups throughout Ireland to organise an awareness raising (not a fund raising) event involving some form of enjoyable physical activity on the 15th October.

  


EDI agm 2011 and Information Session

This  year's agm was held Buswells Hotel on Saturday 21 May.

After the agm there was an Information Session on "SPECIALIST BREAST CENTRES – NOW AND IN THE FUTURE" with Professor Arnold Hill, Beaumont Hospital and National Adviser, Surgical Oncology to National Cancer Control Programme.

   

Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer – 11th Annual Conference

EDI members Dympna Watson and Marie Ennis attended this conference in Orlando, Florida along with 700 other women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 45.for a unique weekend of learning and networking.

Taking exercise and being physically active

+ keeping a normal body weight

+ eating a healthy diet can help protect your breast health!

For Breast Health Day 2010, EDI focused on one or more of these lifestyle choices that can influence your future breast health and help prevent breast cancer.

EDI hosted the Anna Livia Mile Walk in central Dublin ending at Grand Canal Dock, followed by some "warm-down" exercises.  See events + photos.

  


EDI agm and Information Session 2010

EDI's 2010 AGM was followed by an Information Session on "Exercise and Breast Cancer"   featuring Charlotte Coleman Smith of the Plurabelle Paddlers, and Marie Murphy, an ex- Irish Olympian   


9th EUROPA DONNA Pan-European Conference, Stockholm

This conference was a chance to meet European cancer experts and also to meet women with experience of breast cancer from many European countries.

 



9 things you should know about breast cancer

Europa Donna Ireland launched a leaflet on 5 October highlighting 9 things every woman in Ireland should know about breast cancer. The leaflet was launched by Minister Mary Harney and it was delivered to three quarters of a million households around the country. Download the leaflet (478 KB)

LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit Dublin

The Lance Armstrong Foundation LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit took place in Dublin from August 24th – 26th 2009. The Summit was the starting point for sustained worldwide action to combat the cancer burden and convened world leaders, advocates and representatives from non-profits and corporations.  


Scientist to Survivor Programme

World leaders in general cancer research came together in Denver, Colorado to announce and discuss the latest progress in cancer detection, treatment and prevention.
