Breast Health Day 2011

Now is the time to start organising a bigger and better exercise event for BHD 2011!
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Europe, including Ireland. Europa Donna has established Breast Health Day as an annual event on 15th October to remind girls and women about the importance of lifestyle factors that can influence their future breast health and help prevent breast cancer.
This year's campaign is Make Healthy Choices and will continue to remind women that engaging in physical exercise, maintaining a normal body weight, and eating a healthy diet can help protect their breast health.
Europa Donna Ireland is inviting women and groups throughout Ireland to organise an awareness raising (not a fund raising) event involving some form of enjoyable physical activity on the 15th October. Walking is one of the simplest and easiest to organise, but any physical activity e.g. cycling, hiking, swimming or jogging will help get the message across that exercise is fun and good for you too. Or perhaps you could try something different as last year we had a belly-dancing and also a conga line group!
If you would like to participate and organise an event again this year, we can assist with posters, key messages, and promotional leaflets to help to get publicity.
The BHD campaign has also gone live on our Social Networks. So please join the Breast Health Day 2011 campaign through the social networking channels on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. In addition, the “How-to-digital” for the 2011 BHD campaign is now available on the extranet which is a step by step guide on how to participate in this year’s campaign.
The picture uploader is also live on the Breast Health Day website and we encourage all of you to upload your picture in order to become part of the video on 15 October. To access the picture uploader click the following link: http://www.breasthealthday.org/makehealthychoices
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in organising an event to mark Breast Health Day and please do not hesitate to contact us about any of the above.
