15th October 2017 is Breast Health Day!
We would like to invite you to participate in the Breast Health Day campaign.
On and around this day, many events are celebrated in Ireland and internationally to raise awareness of prevention and early detection of breast cancer.
This year’s theme is Healthy Lifestyle for Breast Health.
Engaging in physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight and eating a healthy diet are important lifestyle factors that can affect breast cancer risk. What women and girls choose today and every day can influence their future breast health.
We would like you to take part by organising a local awareness raising (NOT fundraising) event, big or small, involving some form of enjoyable physical activity on or around the 15th October. Walking is one of the simplest and easiest to organise, but any physical activity – e.g. cycling, dancing, even hula hooping – will help get the message across that exercise is fun and good for you too.
Europa Donna Ireland will assist you with campaign materials such as printed posters and leaflets and a fun video. You can also download our leaflet and poster here. We would love to hear from you with your ideas to get this message out to your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Please contact us on 01 496 0198 or info@europadonnaireland.ie.
In the middle of October when attention is drawn to breast cancer, women and girls can empower themselves with the knowledge that there’s a lot they can do to reduce their risk of ever developing the disease in the first place. And, of course, it is important to note that the same healthy lifestyle measures can help prevent recurrence of breast cancer.
Can you help us to spread the word?
